I thought that, at least while we’re on the summer break, it might be good to have an occasional update on the site with a few links to interesting writings and recordings which might be interesting to Members and attenders…

The Little Atoms podcast had an interview with Mark Henderson (formerly Science Editor at The Times) this week, about his new book ‘The Geek Manifesto‘. Listen to it here

Always worth a read is the blog maintained by “Scrapper Duncan” (an occasional Headstrong attendee). This week he took a look at the new social network set up Louise Mensch, called Menshn  [post1] [post2]

Here’s a recording from the recent ‘Bristol Festival of Ideas’. It’s an interview with author Nick Cohen about his recent book “You Can’t Read This Book” (highly recommended!):

‘The Spirit Level’ is a forthcoming film based on the book of the same name. The book won the 2010 Bristol Festival of Ideas Prize and the 2011 Political Studies Association Publication of the Year Award. You can read an extract here. The film is about the rise of inequality in society and looks like it will be interesting. The director was recently interviewed by UK Uncut - you can listen to the audio here:

…and finally an  NPR interview with the late Christopher Hitchens, about our own Thomas Paine:
